A Little Bit About Ms. Quinn

Hello Odyssey Community,

I am excited to embark on another adventure in third grade.  I have spent 11 years in first grade and now I am in my sixth year of teaching third grade.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I have two children who keep my world busy and teach me new things everyday.  In my free time, I enjoy going on adventures and exploring hiking trails with my children.  I dream of getting a camper one day and hitting all the National Parks in the U.S. during my summer vacations.  I love to read, write and learn.

In third grade, I hope to help increase your child's independence, foster their thinking and provide them with the tools to become successful in all areas.  We will also focus on the social/emotional components in which students will learn to work together and problem solve with confidence and independence.

As you probably already know, Odyssey has so many unique features from All School Exploration to CIRCLE words.  All kids and adults are valued here and respected for their individual differences.  OCS is incredibly special because it's about educating the "whole child".

Please feel free to openly communicate with me as we "embark" together on this journey to educating your child.

Sincerely,

Kelly Quinn

Hello and Welcome to THIRD GRADE!

My name is Mrs. Carol Fellenstein and I am thrilled to be starting my second year at Odyssey Community School and even more excited to be your child’s third grade teacher this school year!

I have been an elementary teacher for 19+ years and I am truly looking forward to learning and growing along with your children this year. Every school year brings opportunities for all of us to learn, grow and celebrate. My heart is so happy to be able to share this new year with you and your child as a member of the Odyssey Team!

Along with my passion for being a teacher, I am a proud mother of two boys and have been married to my best friend, Jim, for 34 years. Our oldest son, Brian, is 25 and he just started a new journey at the Larner School of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Our youngest son, Erik, is 21 and he is entering his senior year at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. He is currently studying to take the entrance exam for law school. Both of our boys are kind, loving and we could not be more proud! My husband and I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. (YES! We are Browns fans!) We came to Connecticut as a result of a job offer from Pratt and Whitney. Jim is the Chief Systems Engineer for Military Engines. We also adore our one year old puppy, Bailey. I love to read, cook and I am completely dedicated to eating homemade chocolate chip cookies! My favorite character of all time is Cookie Monster!

I strongly believe in the power of the teamwork triangle formed by parents, students and teachers. When all three commit to working together, the outcome is a positive journey of growth for the child. I look forward to learning more about you and your family and making that triangle strong! I hope that everyone will be able to join us for Back To School Night on September 21! I am so eager to begin the new school year…I know this year will be “OTTER”ly amazing!

Kind regards,

Carol Fellenstein
