Weeks 7-8 (Mar. 23 - Apr. 3)

  • I hope you and your families are doing well; my number one priority is your health, safety and well-being.
  • In order to facilitate some further learning, I have emailed each one of you via your OSCB GoogleMail account. Please see your email for further instruction.

  • Lastly, as you know, "Bad puns are how eye roll"... Week 2 of social distancing: Struck up a conversation with a spider today. Seems nice. He's a web designer. ;)

Week 6 (Mar. 9 - Mar. 13)

  • QUIZ THIS WEDNESDAY
    • Reminder that study tools are in the Workspace in Lesson 5

Week 5 (Mar. 2 - Mar. 6)

  • Notes: You will have your first geography quiz next Wednesday, March 11
    • Study tools are in the Workspace in Lesson 5
  • By the end of the week you should know:
    • How neighbourhoods are planned
    • What an urban planner is
    • What the 7 types of community land uses are (describe each and provide examples of each)
      • Residential, transportation, institutional, parks and open space, industrial, commercial, agricultural

Week 4 (Feb. 24 - Feb. 28)

  • By the end of the week you should:
    • Be able to confidently explain how cities in the future will need to change to accomodate our population growth
    • Be able to explain the differences between: rural, urban and suburban
    • Be able to provide examples of rural, urban and suburban areas in Canada

Week 3 (Feb. 18 - Feb. 21)

  • On Wednesday, we are having a special guest come in to teach us coding with the app "Scratch". Your job, over the course of two visits with our guest, will be to create an "Imaginative World" that demonstrates urbanization and the future of cities (piggybacking off of our TEDEd video - in the Workspace - from last week).

Week 2 (Feb. 10 - Feb. 14)

  • By the end of the week, you should know:
    • Why population settlements changed over time
    • Where most of the population growth will occur in the coming years
    • How cities will need to change to accommodate population growth
    • Population Definitions

Week 1 (Feb. 3 - Feb. 7)

  • This week we are moving into our next subject, Geography
  • By the end of the week, you should know:
    • Why it's important to study Geography
    • The difference between Physical and Human Geography
