VISUAL ART

TERM 1

Using various Elements of Design and Principles of Design to create original art pieces (2D and 3D).

Several mediums will be explored including (but not limited to): pencil, pencil crayon, markers, paint, and pastels.

TERM 2

Many new (wire, different types of paint, printmaking) and old mediums will be used to create unique art pieces. Students will create a self-portrait to be displayed in the gym during their graduation ceremony.

DRAMA

Various Drama games, Self Written Skits, Monologues, Small and Large group Presentations, Improv Activities

Assessments: Class/small group discussions, activities including at least one performance.

Only assessed once- Term 1 or 2 depending on schedule

DANCE

Various dance moves will be explored. Students will have the opportunity to use their new and previous experiences with dance to create an original dance piece in small groups.

Assessments: Small and large group dances- participation, effort and contribution.

Only assessed once- Term 1 or 2 depending on schedule


MUSIC

Students will build on their knowledge of the elements of music and related musical concepts that were introduced in Grades 1 to 7. Students will develop understanding of musical concepts through participation in musical experiences that involve listening, moving, creating, and [performing (vocal and/or instrumental music) TBD related to COVID-19]

Ongoing throughout the year with Ms. Spear.
