It's great to be young and a Comet!
Art I is an introductory class in which students get to experience various media and methods of art creation. Students learn about the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, and how to interpret works of art. Our projects are designed so that the student learns the process needed to create a piece using the tools and medium provided. This allows the student to build a foundation for future exploration of art in the advanced classes offered.
Art II offers students the opportunity to experience advanced media and methods of art creation that are not covered in Art I. Students use their knowledge of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create work that reflects them as an artist. The projects are designed so that the student can express their personal voice or vision.
Art III and IV students are given more independence and choice in their art. Students are given requirements that must be met for each project. The student may also choose to explore new media and methods. Students in Art III and IV are often interested in continuing a career in an Art related field.
Art Appreciation is a class that combines Art History studies with studio work. Students are introduced to art from the Prehistoric Period to present day artists. In this class we enhance our knowledge of each unit with group discovery, videos, and projects. Please note: at this time Art Appreciation is not offered.
