Library Operations Update: Monday, January 26
Due to the snowstorm and NYC schools reverting to remote instruction, the Library will suspend on-site operations at all locations on Monday, January 26, 2026. Notifications will be posted on NYPL’s social media channels and website.
Facilities and Security staff are considered Essential Personnel and will receive work assignments from their manager in accordance with the Library's Essential Services Personnel Policy. We offer our sincere and profound thanks to our Facilities teams, who will be working continuously and in challenging conditions to shovel, salt, and secure Library locations. Their behind-the-scenes work is critical to the safety of our staff, patrons, and buildings, and it does not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for their dedication and professionalism. If you have the opportunity, please personally thank them as well.
All other staff should treat tomorrow, Monday, January 26, as follows:
Staff whose work can only be performed on-site and are scheduled to work tomorrow will receive Other Paid Leave.
Staff who regularly work a hybrid schedule will work remotely, consistent with team practices and in coordination with their manager.
Staff who are on scheduled paid leave (annual leave, sick leave, floating holiday, etc.) should indicate those hours as such in eTime.
At this time, we expect to resume all on-site operations on Tuesday, January 27. If that changes, we will notify all staff as soon as possible.
Please be safe and exercise extreme caution if you need to venture out today or tomorrow.
