Welcome to Nueva Math Club's website! Founded on April 25, 2017, this club is for students who enjoy and are interested in math. We will discuss and solve and challenging math problems and puzzles, and throw in a proof and there. We will also get some great speakers to come and talk!

Sign up to volunteer to tutor math!

Our first volunteer math tutoring at KIPP Valiant School was a success!!! Our 12 participants: David F, Maya A, Charlotte P, Reid C, Bo L, Mia T, Alex S, Taher V, Colin S, Harry V, Makenna K, and Xander A. Special thanks to our club advisor, Steven Chanan.

• WHO - Volunteer middle school students from grades 7 & 8 from the Nueva School. Steven Chanan will also be there with the volunteers.
• WHAT - 1 hour math tutoring for 6th grade KIPP students.
• WHERE - KIPP Valiant School in East Palo Alto.
• WHEN - Once a month on Tuesdays at 3:10pm (we will leave early from school) so we can arrive there at 4:00pm. We will finish at around 5:00pm. Our first volunteer math tutoring took place on January 30. Students can be picked up from KIPP at 5:15pm or get a ride back on the school van to Nueva (arriving around 6pm).
• WHY - To tutor the KIPP Valiant students in mathematics. I’m sure this will be both an educational and fun experience for all of us!
• HOW - We will have parent volunteer(s) and Steven to drive the students to KIPP Valiant.

I hope that many of you will join me to participate in this fantastic opportunity!

Don't forget to attend our math club meetings every Tuesdays during lunch/recess at J210 as well!

Congratulations to Nueva Math Club member, Jack A., on a perfect score on the AMC 8!

Nueva senior, Zack C., was among 12 winners of the U.S. Mathematical Olympiad, and one of the six students to represent the USA team at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2017. Congratulations Zack!! We look forward to welcoming you as a guest student speaker at our Club meeting.
