Art in Grade 6

Students maintain an in-class sketchbook that is a record of art class work throughout all three grades. Class notes, practice drawings and techniques, brainstorming, and project drafts are recorded in the Art sketchbook.

Students will be analyzing and discussing their own art work, and the art work of others, utilizing learned art vocabulary, the Elements and Principles of Art and Design.

Sixth grades art students will be exploring a variety of art media, working on units that include the following:

  • Landscape painting

  • Illuminated Letters

  • Drawing: Charcoal

  • Drawing: Scratch art animal drawing

Other art mediums we hope to explore:

  • Clay

  • Printmaking

  • Painting -
