Norton High School Choirs consist of three performing groups;
Symphonic Choir,
Concert Choir,
and Mixed Ensemble.
Symphonic Choir is an auditioned ensemble, consisting of students that have had multiple years of choir experience in both middle and high school. Symphonic Choir students participate in several OMEA (Ohio Music Educators Association) events including Solo and Ensemble Contest and Large Group Contest. Symphonic choir has consistently rated in the Superior or Excellent categories for the past nine years.
Concert Choir is open to any students wishing to try choir, but lacking in the choral background required to participate in Symphonic Choir. The Concert Choir students are limited to three performances a year, many times singing in collaboration with the Symphonic Choir.
Mixed Ensemble (occasionally known as Treble Ensemble) is an after school vocal ensemble that meets once a week. This group is made up of extremely dedicated singers who put in their own time to learn mainly acapella selections.
Solo Showcase/ Solo and Ensemble Contest happens every January/February date TBD. It is open to any high school choir students that want to work one on one with Mrs Casper to prepare and perform a solo or ensemble selected from the OMEA required literature.
Spring Musical All Choir students are encouraged to participate in the spring musical. We have been blessed to have so many talented singers and actors in choir over the years and have found that our best ensembles are made up of students that sing everyday!
