Athletics Update
Week one of the winter Athletics season is officially in the books, and we are seeing dedication and hard work across all of our programs. Our student-athletes are building a strong foundation for what promises to be a fantastic season!
This weekend Boys and girls Ice Hockey, and our basketball programs as well as wrestling are scrimmaging and testing their skills against some different competition in exciting match-ups. We encourage everyone to check the schedule and come cheer on the Hornets!
Update on Athletic Letters and Pins
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with questions and feedback regarding the new process for athletic letters and the phasing out of pins. Your input is has bee so helpful! We have made a slight adjustment to the new process based on these great conversations:
Senior Athletic Night: We are still planning a special senior-focused athletic night to celebrate their entire athletic career, where all senior athletes will receive their letter.
Early Letter Option: For those student-athletes who wish to receive their letter sooner than their senior year, we have decided to make an additional letter available for a $10 cost. If you choose to purchase an early letter, you will still be provided with one during your senior year awards night.
Pins: To help limit the waste we've seen in the past, we will still provide pins to our athletes. However, instead of simply handing them out to everyone at their banquets, we will ask that student-athletes who truly want their pins swing by after the conclusion of their season to collect them from our office. This will allow students the choice as to whether they want the pins at all.

A Note on Awards Nights
I have made the decision to consolidate the awards celebrations into one Senior-Centric Awards Night in the Spring.
Please know that this change does not mean the end of recognition:
Each team will still receive plaques and certificates to give their athletes during their individual banquets or team celebrations.
Letter award winners will now receive their physical letter during their senior year as part of a plaque identifying the sports and years they earned their letter.
This is a change for sure, but one that will hopefully make the Spring celebration that much more meaningful for our senior athletes.

Plenty of fun in and around North Reading, Go Hornets!!
Dear North Reading Community,
As many of you know, recently, the banners celebrating a number of our student athletes and band members were stolen. This act of disrespect was dissapointing for our students , teammates and their families.
However, the response to this unfortunate incident has been truly moving. Many of you immediately reached out—calling and emailing to express your concern for the affected students and to offer support. Your overwhelming compassion and willingness to stand up for our young people demonstrated once again the strength of the North Reading spirit.
While we have been unable to recover the original banners, please help me offer thanks to the incredible generosity of two members of our community.
First, a sincere thank you to North Reading businessman Donny Skoog, owner of Versed Graphics, who offered a discounted price on the replacement banners.
Second a generous and anonymous North Reading community member stepped forward with a substantial donation to help cover the cost of replacing the banners.
Because of Mr. Skoog’s kindness and this remarkable donation, new banners will be here very soon! I am beyond grateful for the selflessness of these folks; it is such a powerful example of the type of neighbors we have across North Reading.
This kindness and generosity is not an isolated incident. There are so many individuals in this community who consistently do great things for others.
In just the last few weeks, we celebrated Chuck Carucci Sr. for his tireless work in supporting the town, the schools, and the entire community of North Reading through his various roles across so many town committees and organizations. We then saw the community rally to donate food for the food pantry, gathering a great deal for our neighbors in need. And now, in response to the missing banners, we see community members rally in support of our students, with two individuals going above and beyond to make things right.
As we enter this season of thanks, I challenge every person in our town to pay this incredible act forward. Commit a kind gesture for a neighbor—no act is too small. I guarantee the impact will be big. Whether you make a donation, take a tag, give to Toys for Tots, we can continue to support and help each other.
Let us thank our generous neighbors not just with words, but by reaching out and helping our community. Whenever we have a chance to help, we should feel fortunate that we have the capacity to help!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Good afternoon folks,
I am reaching out to the community today concerning the recent disappearance of the personalized athlete/ Band member banners that were displayed on the fences surrounding the turf field at the high school.
These banners are more than just pieces of vinyl; they are symbols of our students’ dedication, commitment, and hard work. They represent years of effort and are meaningful keepsakes for the students and their families. Their loss is disappointing, as they are saved as mementos of a student's high school career.
Our Goal is Simple: Safe and Anonymous Return
We want to be absolutely clear: our only priority is the safe and quick return of these banners. We are not seeking disciplinary action, punishment, or retribution. We understand mistakes happen, and we simply want these items returned to their rightful owners so that the students and their families can hold onto their memories.
If you have any information regarding the banners, or if you know where they are, please help us get them back immediately.
There are several ways to ensure their anonymous return, with absolutely no questions asked:
Drop-Off: Simply leave the banners in a neat pile near the turf field fence or in a covered area near the High School.
Anonymous Call to the High School: Call the high school office anonymously with information about their location.
Anonymous Call to the Police: Contact the North Reading Police Department anonymously.
Contact School Resource Officer Lucci: If you feel more comfortable, make an anonymous call to Officer Lucci directly.
Please help us turn this situation around. Let's work together to get these banners back.
Thank You!
