Curriculum

We follow the NPS guidelines and Pre-K Academic Standards from the State Department of Education. We will use manipulatives, whole group lessons, music, dramatic play, art and literature to introduce students to key concepts. Pre-K was included in the recent math adoption of Everyday Math. Pre-K students will also be involved in our violence prevention program, Second Step. Puppets, posters, role-playing and discussion help students develop skills in empathy, impulse control and anger management.

Students will participate in the "Raising A Reader" program. A bag with 3-4 books will be sent home and exchanged on a weekly basis through out the year. We hope this will help families make reading to children a daily habit. "The single most important activity for building skills essential for reading success appears to be reading aloud to children" NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).

We will schedule Parent/Teacher conferences in November and February to go over your child's progress but will happily schedule additional conferences upon request.
