Wordle Wipeout was a battle of fast minds and smart strategies, where teams had to crack the most Wordles in a fixed time. The prelims were conducted for 7 teams for a time of 5 minutes. Three teams with the most Wordles cracked competed in the finals for 3 minutes. A S Sanjay Bharati, Niranjan Krishna P and Raquel Corliss of Batch 22 emerged as the winners. (They got chocolates!)
Silent reading sessions were organized on 15 March and 5 April 2025 at 4:30 PM at the Amphitheatre. Participants brought their own books- fiction, non-fiction and study materials to enjoy an evening of undisturbed reading under the setting sun and the comfort of fellow book lovers.
P.S. The session was playfully interrupted by puppies!
An open discussion about subtexts and underlying themes in literature was held as the second session of our book discussion series, Literary Dialogues. This session focused on works like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Time Machine by H. G Wells along with other works to discuss hidden constructs, concepts and ideas in famous texts. The event took place on February 1, 2025, at 9 PM at LitC Library.
A fictional Crisis Committee set in the magical wizarding world conducted in collaboration with Vaktavya. Participants were assigned different roles and discussions were done regarding the rights of magical creatures until the committee found itself in the midst of an uprising! This event was conducted on the 3rd of November, 2024 at 6 pm in LH - 1.
KHAOS is a social deduction game that plunges players into a world of mystery and deceit. Participants were assigned different roles unknown to the rest. The aim is to eliminate opposite roles to win. This event was conducted on the 26th of October, 2024 in the LitC Room in four slots from 7 pm to 11 pm. Drinks were also set up at the venue by Fry Guys. We saw an overwhelming number of registrations and participation here. NISER loves this event!
An exciting evening filled with trivia about everything from Contemporary Classics to Pop Culture born out of collaboration with Quizone. There was a round of prelims followed by finals. Books were awarded as prizes for the top 3 teams. This event was conducted on the 25th of October, 2024, at 3 pm in LH4.
Two competitions were held as a part of Umang'24 - Saga: Story Writing competition and Reverie: Poetry Writing competition. Prompts were provided at the venue and both the events saw a great turnout. To assure impartiality, judges from outside NISER were invited to assess the events.
An open mic session prompted by recent concerning events regarding women's safety. Participants were urged to join in the discussion on how literature has helped shape feminist thought over the years, read a passage from their favourite female author, or present their own creative work. This event was conducted on the 8th of September, 2024, at 6 pm in LH3.
A book discussion session where participants were urged to bring their favourite book or a book they are currently reading. Irrespective of genre, discussions were conducted on the themes of the books. This was a good opportunity to explore the diverse reading interests of the NISER community! This event was held on the 23rd of August, 2024 at 5 pm in LH3.
Echoes: An open mic event held on 28th October, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium as a part of Umang 4.0. Participants presented a short story or a poem adhering to the theme of 'nostalgia'.
Muse: The event was held on 28th October, 2023 at 9 am in LH-1 as a part of Umang 4.0. Participants were assigned a painting and were asked to submit a literary work based on the painting.
Khaos 1.0: On 17th of October, 2023, a role playing deduction game was conducted at LitC Room with over 50 participants.
Library reopening: On 9th October 2023, a small get-together of club members was organized in the LitC Room for the reopening of the library.
Khat: A free-form prompt-based letter-writing event held on 28th March at 10 am in LH-5 as a part of TVISHA.
A Valentine's day special, Letters of Love! (#LoL2019): On 14th of February, 2019, a love letter writing competition was organised wherein the students expressed their emotions by making handwritten love letters and posting them in a heart shaped post box.
Open Mic: The event was held on 25th August, 2019 at 4 pm in LH4. Participants were given the stage for five minutes during which they are allowed to talk about anything they wish to.
Logo design contest: We congratulate Tejus Sreelal for designing the winning logo.
Bookmark making session: LitC in collaboration with ArC, the Art and Crafts Club of NISER, hosted.
