What is an Independent Study Session?

Several times over the 9 weeks, students will be able to complete any missing assignments posted on Infinite Campus.  Students will need to go through my Planbook and Google Classroom to find copies of the assignments I have taken for a grade.  As soon as they turn in the assignments, I will check them off on PowerSchool.  If students are absent, they can retrieve the assignments, as well.  I encourage all students to complete the assignments in a timely manner to avoid too many late assignments.

Why does Ms. Hutchinson have Independent Study Sessions?

One of the biggest challenges that students face is completing assignments on time.  By offering the Independent Study Session, students receive time. This work includes completing missing assignments, finishing essays, reading, completing enrichment activities, completing surveys, tutoring, etc.

Can students listen to music during Independent Study Sessions?

Students are required to bring wired earbuds to class for academic purposes, such as listening to review videos and instructional materials. Wired earbuds are necessary because wireless devices are often incompatible with school computers. Wired earbuds are to be used only for class-related activities, and students are not permitted to listen to personal music during class time.
