What is an Independent Study Session?

Several times within the 9 weeks, students will be able to complete missing assignments that are posted on Infinite Campus.  Students will need to go through my Planbook and Google Classroom to find a copy of the assignments that I have taken for a grade.  As soon as they turn in the assignments, I will check them off on PowerSchool.  If students are absent, they can retrieve the assignments, as well.  I encourage all students to complete the assignments in a timely matter to avoid too many late assignments.

Why does Ms. Hutchinson have Independent Study Sessions?

One of the biggest challenges that students face is completing assignments on time.  By offering the Independent Study Session, students receive time. This work includes completing missing assignments, finishing essays, reading, completing enrichment activities, completing surveys, tutoring, etc.

Can students listen to music during Independent Study Sessions?

Provided that students have their own wired earbuds, students will be able to listen to their own music.  They need to make sure that the volume of their music isn't a distraction to other students.
