My name is Michelle Crowell and I am originally from State College, PA (home of the Penn State Nittany Lions!). I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in elementary education in the spring of 2006. I also have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. The 2020-2021 school year will be my 15th year teaching: 4 years of Kindergarten in Pennsylvania, 5 years of 2nd grade in Bladen County, and 6 years of Kindergarten in New Hanover County.
I have lived in Leland since moving to North Carolina 10 years ago but am currently building a house in Hampstead. My husband and I have a vivacious and loving 5 year old daughter who is in Kindergarten this year. Some of my favorite things include: reading, college football (mainly my Penn State Nittany Lions!!), getting new ideas for my classroom, fun school supplies, Haribo gummy bears, and fierce cinnamon Hot Tamales :)
During the 2018-2019 my donors choose grant "Wild About Books" was fully funded and I was able to purchase 150 books for my classroom library!
In October 2015, my first year in New Hanover County, I was chosen as WWAY's Teacher of the Week. The news crew surprised me in the middle of a lesson and I was awarded a gift card to Staples (which of course I spent on classroom goodies!). What an honor!
