About me

I grew up in Portland, OR with 3 older brothers and two younger sisters. Needless to say there was always something exciting happening in our house. To this day, I function better with a little chaos around me!

I worked as a waiter out of high school and attended a few community college courses, but I was unsure of my career path. Thankfully in 2006 the forces that be united me with an amazing woman who inspired me to finish my degree. After lots of reflecting I realized that I wanted to teach. As part of our senior project I volunteered at Kiwanis Camp, a two week outdoor adventure for teens and adults with moderate to severe disabilities. This experience was incredible and led me to pursue a license in Special Education.

I soon married that amazing woman and moved to North Carolina to be near her family. Our first daughter was born in 2010, a week after I had been hired as a teacher's assistant at Sunset Park. I headed to work two days after bringing our baby home. I learned so much from the amazing staff here, and during that time I finished my licensure program through UNC Charlotte. In 2013 I was hired as an Intensive Academic Support teacher. This position has given me new challenges to grow from and even more amazing moments with my kids.

Our second daughter was born in 2013 as well. I'm a bit outnumbered at home but thankfully still have our beloved dog, Oscar, on my side. My parents and most of my siblings are still in Portland, which makes for a nice family vacation each summer.

My favorite activities include swimming, playing basketball and golf, having dinner with friends, watching ESPN, and of course anything that involves dolls, babies, ballerinas, mermaids, etc.
