2019 NHCS Results

New Hanover County Schools Annual Science and Engineering Fair held January 10, 2019.

New Hanover County Schools held its annual Science and Engineering Fair on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Murray Middle School, 655 Halyburton Memorial Parkway, Wilmington. 127 Students in Grades 3 through 12 entered their projects in categories such as biological science, earth science, physical science, as well as technology/engineering.

Judges from local school, business, community, and government agencies interviewed the students and judged the students’ entries. The Science and Engineering Competition was followed by an awards ceremony at the Minnie Evans Arts Center, 605 Halyburton Memorial Parkway, Wilmington, NC, from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Selected projects from the New Hanover County winners will advance to the Regional Science Fair Competition, which will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, on the campus of UNC-Wilmington (Watson Education Building).

1st place:*Elizabeth Rose (Myrtle Grove), 2nd place: Riley Palmer (Roland Grise).

The Following students were winners in the Junior Physical Science Division: Students marked with an asterisk (*) will be competing in the Regional Science Fair at UNCW.

1st place: *Maya Roseboro (Murray), 2nd place: *Ciera Roseboro (Murray), and 3rd place: Sarah Yngve (Myrtle Grove)

1st place: *Megan Rogers (Myrtle Grove), 2nd place: *Emory Radford (Myrtle Grove), and 3rd place: Nadia Amato (Roland Grise).
