About Me

About the Teacher

I am very excited to be part of your family this school year.  I know it takes a lot to leave your children in someone else's hands during the day and I want you to know that I truly work hard to make our classroom into a family of learners.  Together we will explore new learning opportunities and I am excited to be part of this adventure.

I am a native of Wilmington and attended UNCW for both my undergraduate and graduate degree.  I have 24 years of previous teaching experience.  These years have been divided between first, second, and third - but second is where I have spent most of my career.  I have earned my National Board Certification and continue to view myself as a learner.

I am married with two little girls.  Grace is nine and will be in fourth grade this year and Hannah is 6 years old and will be entering first grade. We have two dogs - a Chocolate Lab, and a Goldendoodle .  We like to spend time outside playing with them when possible and we are also a family of avid readers.  

 Mission for the Class

My mission is to provide a safe and motivating learning community where all students can experience success.  My goal is for students to become self-directed, lifelong learners.

• Personal interests: Reading, writing, sewing, crocheting, gardening, yoga
