Cell Phone Policy:
It is a state law and a rule at Laney High School that cellphones are NOT PERMITTED during instructional time.
Every day, your student will place his/her phone in the phone holder in the front of the classroom.
Phones can only be out if they are being used for instructional purposes.
Please CLICK HERE for data on cellphone use and their impact on teens. Please support teachers in this new law/rule enforcement.
If your student refuses to put their phone away, an administrator will be called to take the phone and the parent will have to come to Laney to get it.
Laney's tardy policy:
First tardy: Verbal warning
Second tardy: call home
Third tardy: referral to the Dean
Please be on time!
English Department test days are Monday and Thursday!
Please familiarize yourself with the Parent's Bill of Rights Act.
If your student wants to be called anything other than what is listed in Power School (for example, your son's name is Robert and he wants to be called Rob in class) I have to notify you. If your student wants to go by their middle name, then I have to notify you.
You can email your teacher proactively, letting them know your preference.
