I am so happy to be here at Ogden Elementary School! This is my 9th year teaching at Ogden. I am originally from Christiansburg, VA, our family's home being on top of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Blacksburg, VA is just a stone's throw away from Christiansburg, so of course our family went (and still go) to many Virginia Tech's home games. GO HOKIES! In the year 2000, I graduated from Roanoke College with an Education degree, majoring in English. My first teaching position was at A.B. Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary School in Cary, NC, where I learned the value of teaching students leadership skills through Dr. Stephen Covey's 7 Habits. I moved from Raleigh to Charlotte, NC in 2007 and taught at another wonderful school called Providence Spring Elementary. This is where I learned how to conduct Paideia seminars, where students speak and listen to their peers, adding value to conversations to ensure a greater understanding of a text. I am very fortunate to be at yet another fantastic school, here at Ogden Elementary. What an exciting year we're going to have together! I look forward to watching my students grow in their academics, leadership skills, and character as we embark on this wonderful and exciting 2nd grade journey together.
