I love teaching 2nd grade! This is my 11th year in 2nd grade and my 15th year at Bradley Creek. I have also taught 3rd and 4th grade. Bradley Creek is such an amazing school, I can't imagine teaching anywhere else!
I graduated from Barton College in Wilson, N.C. in 1993, with a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art. After that, I worked various jobs in the field of graphic deign. For the majority of that 15 year period, I worked as a freelance designer while raising two children.
After working for several years as a substitute teacher, I realized that my love for teaching was still there. My original college plan was to double major in education and art, but sometimes life takes a different path.
I went back to school to get my K-6 teaching license through UNCW. I received my teaching license in December of 2009, after completing my student teaching here at Bradley Creek in 4th grade. I completed my Master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in December of 2015 and received my National Board certification in 2017.
My original home was New Orleans, Louisiana. Being raised in the military, I learned to call wherever we happened to be home. We settled in North Carolina when I was in middle school and I was able to attend school in Pender County through 12th grade. Wilmington has definitely become my home. I have been married for 30 years and have two children, Jill (26) and Rowe (23). Jill works as a wig maker and Rowe is a United States Marine. We also have a Chiweenie, named Penny, who completes our family.
