We have completed our recorder sales for the year. If students are interested in purchasing a recorder, then they can see me for recommendations as to where to purchase one here in town.
This is part of the 4th and 5th grade music curriculum for the State of North Carolina. Each student is responsible for learning 11 different tones that can be made on the soprano recorder.
Each student needs to practice daily the songs that are assigned. In addition, each student needs to remember the basic practice hints:
The LEFT hand plays the top 6 notes (B, A, G, C', D, E')
The LEFT and RIGHT hands play the bottom 5 notes (C, D, E, F, F#)
Cover all the holes tightly! Leaks cause squeaks!
Make sounds with a gentle breath and "too, too, too"
Recorder can be purchased for home use from any Music Store. The closest to our school is Modern Music on 17th Street (beside Pizza Hut). Recorders cost around $4.00 and come in various colors. Dollar Store recorders are a waste of money. They do not produce a good tone, nor do they withstand daily use.
Below are the recordings for all of the songs in the Recorder Karate collection. Please click on the link to your song so you can play along at home and work ahead.
Thank you for practicing!
