This is my third year as the assistant principal at Eaton. Previously, I taught third grade at our school for seven years. Before moving to Eaton, I taught at other schools in Columbus County, NC, in both third and fifth grades. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with a History minor, from UNCW in 2009. Later, in 2017, I earned my Masters in School Administration, with an add-on licensure in Curriculum, Instruction, & Supervision, also from UNCW. Additionally, I obtained National Board certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts just before transitioning out of the classroom.
Working to build strong connections with students and families is very important to me. When we invest in the relationship between school and home, students are impacted in positive ways academically, socially, and emotionally. As a classroom teacher, I valued the relationships with my classroom families, so I am always excited to bring that same enthusiasm into the role of assistant principal, and with each of you.
I am especially passionate about helping students find literature they love. The power of connecting to a book that is representative of your own perspectives, and seeing the book as a mirror into your own world can be incredibly powerful. Last year we started a school-wide initiative called "Eaton Reads," and we're excited to continue that in 2020-2021!
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, relaxing with family and friends, going to the movies, and just spending time in our beautiful city! I am also a huge Harry Potter nerd, and have three cats that are all named after house elves from the series.

I look forward to working collaboratively with each of you to maintain the high standard of success for which Eaton is known. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, concerns, or celebrations at any time throughout the year.
