The LEA recruits and retains highly qualified professionals and provides relevant and effective professional development concerning the needs of gifted learners that is on-going and comprehensive.

AIG Credential Classes:

New Hanover County is offering AIG credential classes to all teachers. The goal of the credential classes is to ensure that gifted students are recognized as different types of learners who need different types of assignments to foster their intellectual, academic, and social/emotional growth.

The course is a combination of face-to-face training and online activities and assessments through Moodle. The first round of AIG-C courses will be offered

The training will provide teachers with specific strategies and tools for working with AIG students. Through the coursework, participants will learn how to recognize the characteristics and social and emotional needs of gifted children, as well as how to help gifted students develop coping strategies to maintain success in the classroom. Participants will also learn the three primary modes of differentiation and when it is appropriate to use each method. The names of teachers who successfully complete the credentials course are posted below.
