Welcome Parents!
I look forward to a great year working with you and your child. The information below will help us in working together to make this a wonderful year.
Encourage and allow your kids to advocate for themselves. It is important that students speak up and talk to their teachers to address issues they experience. Teachers are here to help them become independent thinkers and doers. Students may email me, speak to me in class or leave a note on my desk if they need anything.
Allow your kids to make mistakes and learn from them. Making mistakes is a fundamental and essential part of learning. Mistakes help increase knowledge, teach the value of different perspectives, hard work, and problem-solving , as well as, remind us that we are human.
Parents are an integral part of student success. It is easier than ever before to stay informed on what is going on with your children at school. Accessing teacher lesson plans and websites are convenient ways to know what your children are learning and the expectations of the class. Infinite Campus is not only handy, it is essential in knowing how students are doing in class and helping them to adjust their sails. Parents no longer have to wait until progress reports or report cards are sent home, you have access to grades 24 hours a day 7 days a week. (Except when Power School has their weekend updates! :)
Utilize my planbook to check on our weekly classroom plans. The link is located at the top of this webpage and within the site list on the left. All assignments can be found on this page.
All daily homework assignments are listed on my Planbook under each class. Please check this website everyday. It is every student's responsibility to keep up with due dates for all assignments. The website is an excellent tool to keep everyone informed of what is expected.
Infinite Campus will be updated weekly and is the perfect tool to stay informed of your child's progress. Progress reports and report cards are sent home quarterly. However, parents can check their child's grades at any time using Infinite Campus. If you need your login and password information, please contact Jennifer Izzo at jennifer.izzo@nhcs.net.
Please join our wonderful PTSO! The funds raised through PTSO go back into your child's classroom and help make trips, dances, teacher grants, and celebrations possible.
Sincerely,
April Austin
