My name is Annette Flechtner (pronounced Fleckner - it’s a toughie) and this is my 8th year teaching fifth-grade. I graduated from UNCW with a Master of Arts in Teaching, and I am SO excited to be at Masonboro Elementary again this year. I have two young adult children - David is 27 (a graduate student in UNCW's history department) and Matthew is 25 (a financial analyst at a local development and construction company). My newest “son” is Baker, our 4-year old Aussiedoodle (Australian Shephard and Poodle mix).
My husband, Jim, and I have been married for 34 years - wow! We enjoy taking our dog for walks, riding bikes all over Wilmington, eating good food, spending time on the water or at the beach, and traveling.
Through teaching, I enjoy the opportunity to build strong and positive relationships with families and to help kids develop a passion for lifelong learning. Fifth grade is "No Joke" but we have fun making it a super successful year!
