3rd Quarter 2024

The students have been working hard and are growing in their musicality. Overall, students are working on beat and how it is organized in music.

Kindergarten is working on defining what a steady beat in music is as well as being able to demonstrate the steady beat of a song. Ask your kindergartner to sing you "William He Had Seven Sons" and show you the steady beat motion for each son.

First grade has been working on identifying the strong and weak beat pattern of a song. Ask your first grader to sing you "William He Had Seven Sons" and show you the pattern of strong and weak beats.

In second grade, we have been working on being able to define what a time signature is in music. The students have also been working on singing. Ask your second grader to sing you the Ghanian folk song, "Kye Kye Kule."

Third graders have also been working on being able to define what a time signature is. They also have reviewed some of the instruments in our music room.

Fourth grade has been reviewing what a time signature is as well as the various classroom instruments.

Fifth grade has learned what the bottom number of a time signature tells the musician.

Students in SDA have finished recognizing and demonstrating the difference between sound and silence.
