Standards and Resources
We will be digging deep into math skills this year by focusing on how and why to solve each problem. Instead of simply memorizing steps we will build a concrete understanding of each standard.
A love of reading is the foundation that leads to success in writing! This year my goal is to develop your child's love of reading and writing by allowing them to choose topics that interest them. It is important for students to choose books that are a "good fit". A "good fit " book is one peeks students interest, but is also on the students reading level.
Science and social studies material will be embedded into our literacy program. We will also have time during the day when we explore science and social studies with hands on experiments. Allowing students to solve open ended questions and investigate how and why things work is a major component to the 3rd grade curriculum.
