Mrs. Pope

Hi my name is Abby Pope. This is my 13th year of teaching Kindergarten at Newman Catholic Elementary School. I truly enjoy this age group of children and love their enthusiasm for learning.

My husband and I have 2 daughters, Tess, 9 and Lyla 7. Tess will be in 4th grade this year and Lyla is excited to be a second grader. Between my husband's farming operation, my parents' greenhouse business that I help with as much as I can, and our daughters, we stay very busy.

I am blessed to be teaching in such a caring environment that truly puts the children first, spiritually and academically.

Mrs. Thompson

Hi! I'm Brinna Thompson and this will be my second year teaching Kindergarten at Newman. I previously taught Kindergarten at North Iowa, and I worked for many years in a daycare. I love watching each student learn and grow throughout the school year!

My husband Tyler and I have two daughters, Paislee (2 years) and Harper (9 months). Tyler works for the water and waste water department for the City of Forest City. We love to spend time with our girls, each of our families, and our friends. We also love football season! Go State & Go Pack Go! (:

I am looking forward to creating and growing relationships with each one of you throughout the school year. I can't wait to help your children learn and grow!

Mrs. Leerar

Hi, I'm Jennifer Leerar and this is my second year teaching at Newman. Last year, I taught TK and this year I am excited to teach Kindergarten and have some of my students again along with teaching some new students. Prior to teaching at Newman, I taught Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Special Education. I love building relationships with my students and their families, and help my students learn new things in a fun, positive, and hands on learning environment.

I have four children and two grandchildren, along with some very spoiled dogs, chickens, and pigs (usually in the Spring for 4H). I love living on a farm, spending time with my family and friends, shopping, baking, going to country or Christain concerts, and attending Iowa State Football games with my two younger children. My older two children are Hawkeye fans!!!!! A fun fact about me is I was born on April Fool's Day!!!

I am blessed to be a part of Newman, it gives me the opportunity to help students grow in their faith and support their academic journey in Kindergarten this year!
