About Me: I am very excited to be your kindergarten teacher this year! And now here is a little bit about me.
I grew up in Weston, Massachusetts, and went to University of Vermont for my undergrad. I studied Dietetics because I love science, health and wellness, and food! Once I graduated, I moved back to Boston and started subbing at the Mather Elementary School in Dorchester. I realized my passion for education was so great that I decided to get my master's in education from Wheelock College. Prior to working at Mitchell, I student taught at the John D. Runkle school in Brookline, then worked as a first grade paraprofessional at the Edith C. Baker School in Chestnut Hill, and later taught kindergarten at the Burr Elementary School in Newton. For four years, I worked at Sportsmen's Tennis and Enrichment Center as the ELA Coordinator for the after school program and during the summer as their Lead ELA teacher. This is my second year as a kindergarten teacher, third year at Mitchell, and first year as a mom to a 5 month old, George.
I love being a teacher. My favorite aspects of teaching are being creative, having fun, and learning that mistakes are opportunities for everyone! I also stress to students that they should push themselves to take risks but to always have fun! We will have a great time with all of the hands on learning we will be doing in the classroom!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors, staying active, cooking and gardening! My husband and I both went to University of Vermont, so we love to travel to Vermont to see the beautiful foliage, go for bike rides, visit the farmer's markets, and try out new and fun restaurants! You will also learn that I love traveling near and far! Maui, Hawaii is a very special place for my family and I.
My husband and I just moved to Weston, MA. We absolutely love going for walks around our neighborhood and visiting my family since they are only .8 miles away from us!
I can't wait to start the school year!
