I received my B.S. in Biology with a Genetics concentration from Cornell University, and my PhD in Plant Pathology with a Biotechnology minor from North Carolina State University. My PhD research was on the mechanisms of pathogenicity in the fungus Pseudocercospora fijiensis, causal agent of black Sigatoka disease of banana, specifically focusing on the role of secondary metabolism in disease. Currently I am a research associate with the NSF Center for Integrated Pest Management, North Carolina State University. I am the plant pathologist for PestLens, which collects and distributes information about exotic plant pathogens so that decisions can be made by USDA groups on how best to safeguard United States agriculture.
Research Interests (keywords): plant pathology, plant-fungal interactions, fungal secondary metabolism, polyketides, transcriptomics, regulatory science
