North Carolina has sure has its share of scholarship winners. If you are chosen for a scholarship, you will receive far more than funds that you have contributed.
So how do you get a NACAA Scholarship? - Applicant or all group members have contributed $40 to NACAA Scholarship Fund by before the end of the previous year's AM/PIC. (check made out to NACAA/Scholarship Foundation) Check to confirm your contribution status prior to submitting an application. If one person within the group has not contributed $40 by before the end of the previous year's AM/PIC, it disqualifies the entire group
Fill out Applications completely including (go to NACAA Awards and Recognition Information on the NACAA Web Site and click on Scholarship Application Form)
1. Description in detail your plan for this training or activity (advanced degrees, graduate credits, tours, seminars, research or other specialized training)
2. Describe in detail the training/activity justifications and application of knowledge gained for/from this activity, and detailed itinerary.
3. Finances: Using a detailed budget describe how the funds will be spent
Study or training must start within 12 months of the AM/PIC where scholarship is awarded or before the next scheduled AM/PIC. The study or training cannot be initiated before application is approved by the Scholarship Selection Committee and the Trustees of the NACAA Educational Foundation.
Applications are judged and funded based on completeness, plan for training, how it will be used/applied post training, and availability of funds. (Justify your proposal)
Maximum scholarship is $1000 per year, & a total of $2,000 during a member's Extension career. (This amount includes scholarships received as an individual or as part of a group.)
Scholarship funds will not be awarded until 30 days prior to study or training begins. It is the recipient's responsibility to advise the National Scholarship Chair if impending date of educational activity changes.
Report must be made to National Scholarship Chair within 30 days after the training is completed. That report must include a 75-word abstract of the approved educational activity and documentation that the expenses were spent according to the stated educational objectives of the application. The penalty for misuse of NACAA Scholarship Funds is repayment of the funds to NACAA & prohibition from future NACAA Scholarships.
Recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee with final approval of the Trustees, NACAA Educational Foundation.
No scholarship will be awarded a person, if as a result of such grant, any member of the Scholarship Selection Committee, National Board of NACAA, or any Trustee of the Foundation shall derive a private benefit, either directly or indirectly.
Selection for Scholarships shall be made on an objective & nondiscriminatory basis, regardless of race, creed, color, gender, or religion of the applicant.
Each applicant must be a NACAA member in good standing with their State Association for the past two years.
Applications must be submitted by June 1. Scholarship Committee State Chair must approve the applications for their state by June 15. Applications must be approved by the Regional Vice Chair by July 1. FOR GROUP APPLICATIONS - All tour members must meet criteria, including address, home and office phone, contribution of $40 to the NACAA Scholarship Fund by by the end of the previous AM/PIC, whether they received a previous scholarship and if so, how much.
You are encouraged to apply for a scholarship next year through NACAA, you need to have contributions in by the end of the AMPIC of year prior to the year applying for a Scholarship. So if you want to apply for next year, get your money to me ASAP or check with me on your contribution status.
NEW for Next Year - Beginning with the 2013 Scholarship Request: member vestment will be $40 to qualify for up to $1000 Scholarship and a Vestment on $100 (an additional $60 contribution to the scholarship fund) to qualify for an additional scholarship awards from $1,001 to $2,000 (no more than $1,000 in any one year will be awarded - that has not changed) before the end of the 2012 AM/PIC.
SO, 2012 is the last year that a $40 contribution is eligible for $2000 in Scholarships.
2. Another way to contribute to this Scholarship fund is by donating items towards Scholarship Auction at the National Meeting. So Bring items for the NACAA Scholarship Auction!
Scholarship Activity - This year North Carolina had 2 individuals send in Scholarship Applications that have been forwarded on to the National level.
North Carolina did have contributions sent in for NCACAA members to the NACAA Scholarship Fund as well as those who donated items for the scholarship auctions at the 2011 NACAA AM/PIC.
So Please Remember to - Donate items for the Scholarship Auction that will be held in Charleston on Tuesday night (July 17) during the National Meeting. - Bring you scholarship auction item(s) with You & Bring your checkbook to Charleston so we can have a GREAT scholarship auction!
