The Professional Excellence Committee is under the Program Recognition Council.
The objective is to showcase NACAA members work by giving them the opportunity to present posters at the Annual Meeting/Professional Improvement Conference. This award program has two categories to recognize NACAA members:
1) Applied Research – to give individuals an opportunity to present a poster on applied research they have conducted.
2) Extension Education – this category is designed to give members an opportunity to present a poster on new or different educational methods or technologies he or she has used.
All abstracts from accepted poster session entrants will be published as well. The abstract will be published in the Annual Meeting Proceedings and other methods deemed useful.
There were no submissions from North Carolina for 2011. But at the AM/PIC there were 88 Extension Education and 44 Applied Research submissions. NCACAA members are encouraged to submit posters to the state and national meetings. If you are doing any research, whether alone or in conjunction with specialists, you should have the data and information available to create and submit a poster. If you would like to learn more about the poster sessions, please contact me. Also, if you attend the national meeting, judges are always being sought. The best way to learn about the poster contest is to be a judge.

I would like to commend Charlotte Glen for her submission for 2012 entitled: “Benefits, Challenges and Opportunities for Improving the Effectiveness of Demonstration Gardens as Educational Tools for Cooperative Extension”.
Respectfully submitted:
