The Department of State Treasurer announced the introduction of a new retirement option for North Carolina teachers and school personnel in December of 2012. Our research intends to measure the effects of this new program, the NC 403(b) Plan, on retirement behaviors among school district employees, as well as the impact its introduction has on various administrative and investment fees charged by other vendors offering similar plans to school districts in North Carolina.
