Welcome to Nico Cooper Ashtanga Yoga and longevity lab in Malmö. Here you will find our timetable, prices, a little about us and what to expect.
We teach Ashtanga Yoga in the traditional way. That is, morning "Mysore" (drop-in) classes. If you have never practiced this form of yoga before, then you will start with a relatively short simple practice (20-30min) and then build up from there.
We combine the yoga with modern training methods to help you to be as happy and capable as you can be in life.
This may include working on strength, balance, fitness, flexibility, concentration, meditation, relaxation, breathing and so on.
We mix testing and training methods developed in academia and competitive sports with those developed in-house. All training we do is individual and based on your own goals.
Classes are booked by calendar month. A month's pass guarantees you a spot in all classes that month. There is never a need to book an individual class. The 2025 timetable is available here.
We now start Mysore classes earlier at 5am. New students and beginners please come at 6.30am for extra personal attention until you have a few weeks experience and are ready to start earlier.
We have a detailed calendar which integrates with Apple & Google which you may access once you have begun. However the general program is as follows:
Mysore Class: Mysore classes are "drop-in" classes where you come and go at the time that suits you. The teacher will build you a practice based on your goals and experience. The teacher assists, adjusts, and instructs as necessary during the class. Classes include physical asana, but also meditation, philosophy and so on.
Self Practice Class: Time to use the yoga shala for your practice without a teacher present. On weekdays the shala is open a little longer to enable students to do "closing series", meditate, rest, or drink tea and chat.
Led Full Primary: Once a month we hold a "led class" where we all practice together at the same time. While not strictly "yoga", a led class is a fun way to learn and practice together, and a good warm-up for the conference to come.
Conference: The monthly conference follows led class and is an opportunity to discuss anything in the field of yoga and longevity. We usually focus on yoga philosophy, but the opportunities are endless. Often Nico will send out a short video on a topic beforehand to discuss during the conference.
Nico and Tullia met while practicing yoga in Mysore in 2013 and they have been travelling and practicing yoga together ever since, most recently with their three kids back at the shala in Mysore in 2024. With their focus on family, Tullia and Nico now teach from their home in central Malmö.
Nico is an Australian yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga, meditation and other Indian philosophies for more than two decades. He teaches the Ashtanga Yoga method as set out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and practiced by R. Sharath Jois.
Tullia began teaching yoga while completing her PhD in 2017 in Lund. She developed a new appreciation for human bodies while practicing during and post pregnancies for our three beautiful children and brings this to her classes.

Sharath Jois encouraged us to start our shala in April 2022 when he said “Nico, open a shala at home, with your kids running around” and so in the tradition of Ashtanga as a householder's yoga, we open our home to you.
By coming to our home, you step into our world where yoga is part of a healthy, happy family life. In our shala we value having a down-to-earth, long-term practice, and encouraging each other. We enjoy yoga as a part of everyday life, and we invite you to share this lifestyle with us. Remember this is a family home, and so it is important to maintain consideration for our family and our neighbours’ families.
We are authorised to teach traditional Ashtanga Yoga by our Gurus Sharath Jois, and Saraswathi Jois at KPJAYI in Mysore, India.
Our shala looks over Möllevångstorget in Malmö. Malmö is situated at the southern tip of Sweden, across the bridge from neighbouring Copenhagen, Denmark.
