Ms Collins 4th Grade Schedule

2021-2022

Ms. Collins/Mrs. Kemmetmueller

Dear Fourth Grade Student and Families,

Welcome to fourth grade! This is going to be an exciting year filled with learning, making new friends, and trying new things. You are going to be a part of a special classroom assignment where you will have two teachers! You will start your day with your homeroom teacher (whoever is listed on your class list). At around 10:50 students will switch and spend the remainder of the day with the other teacher.

Mrs. Kemmetmueller will be your Language Arts teacher. I will be teaching you language arts that include comprehension skills and grammar. I will also be your guided reading teacher where you will read many wonderful books and discuss them in book clubs. Lastly, I will be teaching you writing where you will work on writing skills and do three big writing projects this year. I love to read, so you might hear me say that every book is my favorite! (And yes, you can call me Mrs. K.- so much easier than Mrs. Kemmetmueller!)

Ms. Collins will be your Math, Science, Social Studies and Health teacher. I will be teaching Math topics including Number & Operation (including basic math facts of addition, subtraction and multiplication) with the introduction of division along with basic Algebra, Geometry & Measurement, Data Analysis. You could say I am a Math geek. Fun Math Fact: In a room of 23 people there’s a 50% chance that two people have the same birthday. The main topics for Science include Water, Rocks and Minerals and Electricity. Social Studies will include covering US State Geography. I am looking forward to hearing all the cool places the 4th graders want to or have already visited!

You will have your main contact with the homeroom teacher. That means that this is the teacher that you will sign up with to meet for Fall orientation, conferences, and any other activities that are hosted by the classroom teacher. You are always welcome to contact the other teacher if you have any questions regarding their classroom.

We are looking forward to a great year of learning and growing together. I, (Mrs. Kemmetmueller) have done this for the past three years with Mr. Bugbee and it has been a fabulous experience for the students and teachers. We look forward to meeting you at Fall Orientation Sept. 7 or Sept. 8.

Becky Kemmetmueller and Laurie Collins
