Computer Science is changing EVERYTHING in all career fields, and it's an awesome opportunity for us to have access to learn these amazing skills! As you know, we do Coding lessons throughout the year at Florence Elementary, and this week we are going to take a break from our normal lessons to participate in the national Hour of Code celebration in honor of Computer Science Education Week!
Upper end students will also watching the video below, which talks about all of the career fields and parts of the world that Computer Science and Coding is involved in!!!

What is coding? Have you ever heard about it before?
- Think about your favorite video game or app
- Did you know that every tap or press of a button was coded with instructions for the computer, game console, smartphone, etc. to know what to do?
HOUR OF CODE with code.org:
- Today we will be choosing and doing a Hour of Code activity
- Please look through the available activities on the Code.org website, choose one, and work on it.
- Once you start with an activity, please stick with it for the entire time :)
- Even when things don't go right the first time, even if you get frustrated...keep trying your best! Don't be afraid to make mistakes!!! Watch this video from famous athletes reminding us to keep trying and push ourselves!
- If there are more that you want to try, we will be able to do this during computer lab time this week and during Free Choice times in the future!
