This month we have been working on so many fun things in 2nd grade. In math we are finishing up learning to count money and tell time. We are also using our skills to solve problems related to the two concepts. In reading, students chose a Magic Tree House book they wanted to hear. Together, we are completing graphic organizers to compare how different characters react to different events. After, we will compare the three books being read to see the similarities of the characters across books. Students have also chosen their own series books to read. This is helping them build their stamina with chapter books. In writing we finished up our non-fiction/informational writing and had a celebration. Kindergarten students and staff from the school were invited to come and visit while students read their books. The students were very proud of their work. In science, we completed our unit on the properties of matter. In our last challenge, students worked in teams to build towers with paper. They had to figure out how to overcome the papers property of being flexible. The students learned that working as a team was a necessity in completing the project.
