Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to school this year. This will be my twenty-first year here at Sinnott, and I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I grew up in nearby Berryessa San Jose area and attended U.C. Berkeley for my undergraduate degree. Volunteering weekly through the OASES program at Cal solidified my desire to become an educator. Upon graduating, I attended San Jose State for my teaching credential and master’s degree in Elementary Education. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, Yelping new spots to eat (my favorite things to eat and drink are sushi and milk tea), and playing badminton/tennis/pickleball.
The shift from 3rd to 4th grade is a huge step as the students are moving from primary to intermediate grades. With this transition comes a greater responsibility for their own learning and work. The most often mentioned differences usually include more classmates they get to interact with, ODS service opportunities, and science class with Ms. Chu.
I am anticipating a year of building your child’s strengths and supporting their challenges with various technology tools as well as hands on interactive activities. Working with you, I look forward to meeting the needs of your child. I am excited to experience all the adventures we will embark on together!
Our class supply list can be found here. Please have all supplies ready by Monday, August 25 so that your child can be fully prepared during class. If you would like to donate to our class fund (TPT or school), it would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly, the quickest way to reach me is to send me a message through Parent Square or an email (ashieu@musd.org).
Sincerely,
Ms. Shieu
