"Social Networking" rocks

In the last few weeks I've managed to get in touch with a guy that was probably my best friend growing up (we survived puberty, double dates, elementary school through college, and beyond), one of my favorite sopranos in the world that I went to school with (think "the little blonde haired girl" from Charlie Brown cartoons.... but this one knows I exist), a very important girl from my adolescent years (who sometimes was on those double dates.... but not with me) and her little sister, and one of my favorite "valley girls" from ages ago (when valley girls were real, not just a comedy routine).

There are also some rather random connections to people I might never have met, some that I don't know well enough but find amusing, some comedians and musicians who have routines and songs I like.

When you live in the boondocks, without a lot of daily face to face with folk, this can be a real mental lifesaver.

The other issue, is that when you start figuring out where these people ARE.... lets see. Finland, San Francisco, Taiwan, California, Netherlands, New York, Phoenix, Snohomish... and that is just a short list of some of the folk I know who are dear to me.

You can have my guns, if you must. But you are not getting my computer until you pry my cold dead fingers from it. I wonder if I can get a 'net connection from the afterlife?
