Welcome to the Mount Ayr Community Schools

Hall of Fame

The Mount Ayr Community Schools Hall of Fame was established in 2012 to create a lasting tribute to groups and individuals who have brought honor to themselves, their school, and their communities.

The Mount Ayr Community School Hall of Fame was created to honor graduates, employees, teams, individuals, and friends of the Mount Ayr Community School for their accomplishments and/or service to the Mount Ayr Community School, and also to inspire our students to become the best that they can be. The phrase "Mount Ayr Community School" refers to all of the schools that are now part of the Mount Ayr district.

The Hall of Fame committee seeks your help in the process of identifying outstanding individuals, groups, and teams to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.

We would like to clarify a few ideas about the Hall of Fame:

1. It is NOT an athletic Hall of Fame.

A misconception exists that the Mount Ayr Community School Hall of Fame is ONLY for athletes and athletics - this is far from the truth! This Mount Ayr Community School Hall of Fame exists to recognize students involved in ALL extracurricular activities at school, ALL alumni that earn distinction beyond graduation, as well as, ALL staff and supporters of our school. In the constitution for the Mount Ayr Community School Hall of Fame, the following purpose is stated:

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Mount Ayr Community School Hall of Fame is threefold (listed in no particular order):

    • To honor Mount Ayr Community School graduates who have distinguished themselves in life after high school;

    • To honor students who have accomplished extraordinary feats in extra-curricular activities;

    • To honor those who have made significant contributions to Mount Ayr Community School over a period of years.

2. It is NOT just for Mount Ayr Community School.

The phrase "Mount Ayr Community School" refers to all of the schools that are now part of the Mount Ayr district. The committee welcomes nominations related to schools such as, but not limited to Beaconsfield, Benton, Clearfield, Delphos, Ellston, Kellerton, Grand River, Grand Valley, Maloy, Redding, and Tingley.

Nominations are sought from the public on an annual basis. Nomination materials must be submitted prior to the first weekend in December in order to be considered for the subsequent induction class. Once submitted, nominations remain active in perpetuity and will be reviewed by the selection committee each year. Please note that the selection committee encourages and appreciates nominations that include substantial information about the nominee, as well as supporting documentation.

Nomination forms are available online (www.mtayrschools.org), at the Superintendent's office, and are also published periodically in the Mount Ayr Record News.

The announcement of the new induction class is made on Foundation Night, which typically occurs at the last Friday night home basketball game (late January or early February).

The Hall of Fame banquet and Induction ceremony is held annually in conjunction with the Homecoming celebration at the school.
