Genius Hour is a passion-based project learning model that includes three aspects: 1) Student chooses a driving question, 2) the project must involve research, and 3) the student must share what they learned. During the class, students could blog about their progress. This was a summer course offered at the Shafter Learning Center from June 8th to July 8th, 2015, where 5th and 6th grade students were guided to discover things they are passionate about learning on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00pm.
I'd like to give a special thanks to David Franz, Amerika Nino-Rodriguez, Melissa Bergen, and the Shafter Learning Center for making this course possible!
