The 5th grade class is excited to present the Veterans Day program this year. We will be honoring Veterans and teaching the students at Upchurch about Veterans Day. Kindergarten through 4th grade students will be attending the program.

If you would like to honor a Veteran in our slide show, please fill out this form. The deadline for submissions for the slide show is Friday, October 30th. 

Week of November 2nd-6th

Reading and Writing:   We will be focusing on foundational skills and comprehension skills.  We will be wrapping up our knowledge unit of Outer Space. We will be talking about long vowels with the bossy "e."  Be sure to talk with your Firsties about Common and Proper NOUNS!  Please be sure to go through your child's folder each day and discuss what they've learned!   Be sure you have your child read each night!  *We have switched reading classes. As a team, we make it a priority to get to know all 1st grade students in all our school settings. This makes switching between any of the 1st grade teachers seamless. Remember these groups change and do not be alarmed if your child stays with or changes their reading teacher a couple of times this year!*

Math:  We will start Module 6, understand put together and break apart problems this week.   Keep practicing addition and subtraction strategies at home with your Firstie!  Flashcards would be a great tool to use!  You can also use 99 math and xtra math!

Social Studies:  We will learn about what good neighbors do.

Other:  Be sure to check your Firstie's folders DAILY!

Homework: Life Skills homework comes home on Friday and is due the next Friday. Thank you for your support in helping your child learn these important skills.
