Weekly Updates for the week of  May 11th-15th

Reading:  We will be working through various extension activities that could include readers theater, grammar review, reading fluency, comprehension skill practice, etc.  We do NOT have a spelling test this week!  Please be sure your Firstie is reading at least 10 minutes each night!  Thank you for your support with this!

Writing:  We will be working through our Informative Writing Unit and will start weather research.

Math:  We will continue to review skills learned this year as well as many extension activities.  We have a school wide goal of building our fact fluency.  You may use XTRA math OR IXL fluency at home to practice.  This can be accessed going to clever.com and then using your child's QR code in their folder.  Another idea would be to use flashcards!!  Please be sure to be watching SEESAW for any notes from your child's math teacher!

Science: We will be continue with our Light and Sound Unit with learning about sound vibrations. 

Art:  We will work on a fun spring project.

May 20 - Upchurch Picnic Day!

May 22 - Upchurch Field Day!

May 26/27 - EOY STEAM FUN DAYS!

May 28- Last Day of School (half day)

Weekly Updates for the week of  May 4th-8th

Reading:  We will work with words that have "air, are, ear."   Our comprehension skill is author's purpose. We will also be practicing rereading what we read.  The grammar skill is adverb that tell how.  Please be sure to look through your child's folder each day to go over what they learned!  Your child will also have spelling homework every week that is due the following Friday.  They can choose 5 words from their list to write in sentences.  Thank you for your support with this!  Don't forget to have them complete and return their spelling sentences and 1 minute reads, so they can earn their book token to the Leaper Vending Machine!
