Mrs. Venn
Hi! Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am so excited to be working with you and your child this year! We are going to learn so many new and exciting things and have lots of fun doing it!
A little bit about me: I’ve lived in Omaha my whole life. I received both my teaching and master’s degree through UNO. My husband and I have triplet teenage boys (yes you read that correctly- triplet teenagers!- yikes! HA!) This year they are going to be seniors and I am in complete denial about that! :) We, also, have a cute cocker spaniel named Henry.
I have taught a total of 10 years and subbed for about 5 years. I taught first grade for five years, took a break to stay home with my kids, and then returned to my love of teaching and taught fourth grade for five years. This will be my first year at Wheeler Elementary School and am so excited!! I am truly blessed to have the best job in the world and thank you for trusting me with your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have at kjvenn@mpsomaha.org I can’t wait to for us to work together to make this your child's year the best it can be!!
Mr Fleming
Welcome to our Third Grade webpage! I've enjoyed teaching in the Millard Public Schools for 24 years, all in 3rd grade. Here, we transition our students from the primary to the intermediate grades while learning study skills and skills of independence in a safe and nurturing environment. And, oh yea, we have a lot of fun doing it! You can contact me at jdfleming@mpsomaha.org. I encourage everyone to make some time during the year to come in and see all that we do each day!
On a more personal note, I am a graduate of Plattsmouth High School and Midland Lutheran College. During high school and college, I played basketball and competed in many events in track and field. Two years ago, I completed my Master's Degree in K-6 Math Education. My family members are avid Duke basketball and Seattle Seahawk football fans. And of course, we love our HUSKERS!!
My wife, Kristy, and I have three children. Our 7 year old daughter, Brinley, loves school, the Trolls and unicorns and is attending Wheeler as a first grader. My oldest son, Brayden, age 12, attends Beadle Middle School and loves to hunt and fish with dad. He also plays piano and loves riding his bike and scooter. My youngest son, Brandt, age 10 also attends Wheeler as a fifth grader. He loves dinosaurs, fishing and camping. Our family also has two chocolate labs, Ella (3) and Ruby (10 months) . Needless to say, we have a very busy home life, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
In my free time, I love to do things in the outdoors. This summer, our family spent a lot of time traveling, visiting family and on the local lakes fishing. In the fall, we continue fishing and go waterfowl hunting. My boys already have their own sets of calls, and enjoy practicing with them, whenever they can find out where mom and dad have hidden them! In addition to waterfowl hunting, my kids join me in the outdoors checking game cameras and working the land prior to deer season. I so look forward to spending time in nature with them!
I truly feel like I have the greatest job in the world. I work in one of the greatest buildings in the district, with some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Each year, I also get to work with an amazing group of kids and learn and grow with them. The journey we take is unique, with its own challenges and bumps along the way. At the end of each year, I am sad to see them leave, knowing that my time and hard work with them has come to an end. But our goodbyes are short lived. I have gotten to see these kids continue to grow at Wheeler, leave for middle school, graduate from high school and then from college, get married and have kids of their own. While the time that they were in my room seems so small, I know that I helped nurture the seed inside each one of them, to help them become the successful people they are today. That, I believe, is the true job of a teacher and why I love this profession so much!
I know this year has a lot of uncertainty for a lot of people, myself included, but please know that safety is always at the forefront of what we do at Wheeler. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
