Welcome

Mrs. Boettcher's Classroom

Welcome to my classroom website!

I am so excited to be teaching reading/behaviors in the ADSIS (Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instruction) program at Morris Area Elementary School. The purpose of ADSIS is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic (specifically in the area of reading at MAES) or behavior support to succeed in the general education environment.

If you stop by my classroom, which I always encourage you to do, you will see small groups of students working on reading and/or academic behaviors. My group sizes range anywhere from one to eight. (Rarely do I have one student, and not often do I have 8.)

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

-Dr. Suess, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

Besides the focus on reading, another main goal of this program is to help students become more independent workers. Independence is sometimes difficult for students who are struggling academically. Imagine being asked to change the oil in a car if you have NO idea how to go about that task! That's how some students feel when asked to work independently. In the ADSIS room, opportunities to be successful, and also chances to ask for help, are encouraged and actually expected. I purposely work these aspects into my daily planning.

The greatest sign of success for a teacher ... is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’”
