Elite Performance Syllabus

Course Objective:
The physical Education Department at Montevideo High School provides an individual and team skill core program, with emphasis on improving one’s overall health through lifetime physical activities.
Grading:
The students will receive 20 points daily. Grades will be determined at the end of each quarter by percentage. Points will also be given for written and skill tests for certain activities.
A= 90-100% 20 Points Per Day
B= 80-89% (-5) Tardy
C= 70-79% (-10) Clothing Violation
D= 60-69% (-?) Depending on severity of
F= 59% and below participation and behavior.
(At least ten points will be
deducted.)

ELITE PERFORMANCE: Intro to Athletic Training

Offered: Semester 1 and 2
Open to: Grades 11, 12
Prerequisite: Must have received credit in Sports Fitness or Lifetime Fitness
and approval of instructor
This course will meet five days per week with an emphasis in “Elite Performance” in sports during season and out. Students will be overseen and taught the proper progression through their training principle involving both aerobic and anaerobic activities. This would include but not limited to weight training, cardiovascular, speed and agility, plyometrics for both lower and upper body, and flexibility. In addition students will learn the basics of “Intro to Athletic Training”. This includes anatomy of the bones and muscles, biomechanical and structural kinesiology, understanding the prevention, assessment, and treatment of common injuries, and exercise physiology pertaining to training thresholds/progressions.
