Small Engines

Home of the 7x Small Engines State Champions

The Small Engine pathway is designed to stimulate an appreciation for small engine repair and serve as a platform of career training for students in the skills and safety practices needed in diagnosing engine malfunctions. This program has won seven State Championship titles and has been in the top five performing teams in California since 2006.

With a four year integrated sequence of courses, students will gain experiences with hands-on instruction of small engine systems including compression, fuel, electrical, cooling, lubrication systems and troubleshooting methods. Students will utilize and develop foundation standards in the areas of mathematics, listening, speaking, problem solving, critical thinking, leadership and teamwork to complete the educational goals. All students will be exposed to the FFA through classroom activities and career development events and will be required to maintain a year-long supervised agricultural experience project to further give students experiences in the field of small engine repair.
