Bulletin 3 — Event Information

• • Event takes place on the Easter Monday – 21 April 2014

Place

• • Riga, Old Town 

  • Event Centre – Latviešu strēlnieku laukums, Riga Techical University, see on the map

Classes

• • M/W Elite – the best orienteers, no age restrictions

  • Age classes: M/W – 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 35, 45, 55, 65

  • Direct classes – DIR-SPRINT, DIR-WALK (no advance registration required)

Courses, Starting Order, Punching

Elite Classes and Age Classes

• • Foot orienteering, sprint

  • Interval start; by draw

  • Starting interval 1 minute

  • Punching system Sport-Ident

  • Winning times for all classes 12-15 min.

Direct Classes

• • Sprint course (class DIR-SPRINT) or course with controls in no specific order, any number of controls to be visited (class DIR-WALK); freely selected starting time.

  • Old-style needle punching – on the map.

  • No time control for class DIR-WALK; the result is formed by the number of visited controls as long as the competitor finishes before 14:00.

Terrain and Map

• Terrain: urban area – streets, yards, squares

  • Map: made in 2013–2014, map specification  ISSOM-2007, scale 1:4000, size A4

Dangerous Areas

• • The competitors should pay attention to traffic when running on streets. When crossing the streets, please, make sure there is no traffic!

• Riga City Council requirement - participants shall follow the traffic rules!

Entries

• • Elite Classes and Age Classes may enter to April 15 (at 23:59) on the OK Mona web-page mona.lv, or by e-mail: parks@mona.lv, or by phone +371-26551920 ask for Mārīte. After April 15 - entries will be limited to the available vacancies on the start list.

    • The following information should be provided when entering: Country, Club, Name and Surname, year of birth, class, personal SI-card No (if any).

  • For Elite Classes, organizers may restrict number of competitors, if exceeding ~45.

  • Direct classes register at the Event Center, no advance registration required.

Entry Fee

• • Basic entry fee – for competitors, who register till April 15, and pay entry fee on the day of competition by cash.

  • Discounted entry fee – for competitors who register and pay entry fee by bank transfer to the bank account of OK Mona till April 15.

  • Late entry fee – for competitors who have missed the entry deadline of April 15.

  • To register changes for an entered competitor on the day of competition:

    • change of competitor, change of class € 2.00;

    • change of SI-card number – free of charge.

  • The entered competitors, if actually not taking part at the competition, pay 50%

• Competitors of direct classes – DIR-SPRINT and DIR-WALK register and pay entry fee (if applicable) by cash on the day of competition

Prizes

• • Prize:

    • to the winners of first six places in the Elite classes, and

    • to the winners of first three places in the Age classes.

Special Rules

• • Competitors participate at their own risk.

  • Competitors are not allowed in the competition area before the start – starting from 10:45; competitors are only allowed in the Event Center and warm-up area before the start.

  • Competitors are responsible for observing the correct start times.

  • Competitors who have finished their courses may not contact competitors who have not started yet!

  • Except in the case of an accident, Direct Class competitors are not allowed to provide assistance to Elite Class and Age Class competitors during the competition!

• Spiked or studded shoes are not allowed.

Other information

• Trail-O competition will take place at the same time. 

  • Sprint participants may register also for Trail-O at discounted fees. They will be offered late Trail-O starting times after finishing the sprint course.
