Pinewood Band Program
Lessons: Each student will be placed in a lesson group, which consists of 4-8 students. They will meet one day a week for a half-hour. Each student will be required to attend his/her weekly scheduled lesson in order to participate in the band. Lessons will rotate throughout the day.
Instruments: We offer band lessons on: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and percussion. Each student must have an instrument in order to participate in lessons. Instruments can be obtained through local music stores. I have information available for several local companies that offer reasonable rental plans. Some instruments may be available through the school. All interested students should inquire. Percussion players need only buy a drum pad, drumsticks, and book. Bell kits are are not required. Once each child receives his/her instrument, please make sure his/her name appears on the outside of the instrument case.
Lesson Books: Each student will need to have a lesson book. Woodwind and Brass players will need an Accent on Achievement Book 1 for their instrument. Percussion players will need Breeze Easy book 1 for Drums.
Students will also need the following:
Wire music stand
Several #2 reeds (for clarinets and saxophones)
Valve oil (for trumpets and baritones)
Slide Grease (for trombones)
Band Rehearsal: Band rehearsal will be every Tuesday after school in the Pinewood cafeteria. Late busses are available. (Starting the 1st week of October)
Commitment: Participation in the band program is a commitment. Students are expected to come to their weekly lessons, practice 100 minutes per week, and attend ALL scheduled concerts. This is necessary in order to have a successful experience.
