World Wide Web Day 2023:
1st August is World Wide Web (WWW) Day.
What is the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web?
The Internet is a global connection of computers and devices.
The World Wide Web is a collection of web pages that can be accessed using the Internet.
In other words, the Internet is the infrastructure, and the World Wide Web is a service on top.
The Internet
The Internet was developed in 1969, at the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), which was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. ARPANET was the first public packet-switched computer network, where multiple computers were able to communicate with one another on a single network.
The World Wide Web
Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989 at the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN).
