Prerequisites
The bibliographic records are required to have an ISBN number in order to leave a rating or comment.
Librarian Email needs to be set up in order to be notified when a comment is left for an item. This is also done via a notification bubble on the main catalog page.
Here is a video overview. For more details see the instructions below.
To leave a comment or rate a bibliographic record
Once you have searched for the item to be rated, click on the item's title and scroll all the way down on the page.
Click on one of the stars (depending on how you wish to rate the item).
To leave a comment, simply type it in the box below the star rating
Finally, click on the "comment" button.
You might be asked to "sign in" in order to identify who is leaving the comment. The librarian will be notified and then either approve or deny the rating / comment on order for it to be displayed on the library catalog.
How the librarian is notified
The librarian will be notified by the red bubble and/or email when a patron has left a comment for an item.
Approving or deleting a comment
The librarian needs to go to "My Account" (located to the right of "sign out" on top of the page).
Click on "Manage Comments".
Select "Approve" for the comment to be published or "delete" to remove it.
Reading comments in the catalog
Comments: In the image below, there is a speech bubble highlighted with a number three in it. This means there have been three comments left for this book. To read the comments, click on the title of the book and scroll to the bottom to see them.
Ratings: The amount of colored stars represents the aggregate score given to the book.
