QUILT SHOW
Bi-annual Quilt Show: In the spring of even-numbered years.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS
Quilts for Kids: This is an ongoing community service project dedicated to supplying handmade quilts to children in need of a hug. The quilts are distributed through the hospitals, Health Department and other agencies. Every guild member is encouraged to make at least one quilt a year for this need. Kits are available at each meeting.
Camp Mak-A-Dream/Bereavement Camp Pillow Project: The goal of this project is to send campers home with something to remind them of their time at camp. The 14" pillow covers can be an orphan block or a specially pieced block. There are one or two sessions a year when a group of ladies gets together to make the muslin 'autograph' backs.
Comfort Quilts: The quilts are donated to the Community Hospital's Oncology Dept and the Cancer Care Center at Community. We try to keep them close to a lap size (50x70) and need quilts for men as well as women. Donations of quilt tops are appreciated as well as completed quilts. Volunteers are needed from cutting kits, sewing tops, longarm quilting and binding. My contact info is Sally Wright, sally@wrightmontana.net
HISTORY
The Missoula Quilters' Guild began in 1986. Six ladies interested in quilting met in one another’s homes each month. The quilters brought their recent work for "Show and Tell." They discussed their work and exchanged ideas. As the membership grew, the group began meeting at the Southgate Mall Community Room. From 1992 to 1997, they met at Country Friends Quilt Shop in the old Spaghetti Station Warehouse building. In 1998, the guild moved to a local church and then to the FairBridge Inn and finally to our new location at Revive Church, 2811 Latimer Street.
